It was invented to merge social profile applications in just a single one for easy and quick management.

The developers made already lots of changes and improvements.

I do really appreciate that all of my suggestions and bug reports were taken seriously and I have received reasonable anwers to every of them. Fulsome praise!

The last thing I reported was answered with the comment that this issue is already been fixed in the current development build and contained the link to Milen’s article Eventbox Progress Update.

If you are using Eventbox already, you really should read it carefully and look forward to the next release. The application will be almost completely rewritten and will contain tons of new innovative and must-have functions. It looks like a new release will come out in a few weeks.

Still beeing in the beta phase you can save some money on purchasing it. Even in this stage the application is worth any cent of it, so I recommend: get it now!

If you have a FritzBox or a self fritzed box, then you may want use its genius functions like call monitoring and fax sending and receiving.

To have all that comfort really greatful on your Mac’s screen, I absolutely recommend the installation of the Fritz.Mac Suite. Unfortunately it costs almost 30 Euro, but keep in mind that you use it every day! You can download a full working trial.

Fritz.Mac Suite

The software communicates via different TCP ports with the FritzBox itself to have all that live data.

In my case the Box did not have the required ports for CAPI and Fax services open. This can be done by simply dialling some codes with the phone.

#96*3* to enable CAPI over TCP
#96*5* to enable Fax support

My problem was, that I could not dial those numbers, because I am using a VoiP enabled handset. The Fritz.Mac Suite contains a Call Manager which can dial for you. Putting the codes in there, solved the issue.

Internet is very important to have a good workflow these days. But, when using your computer, you sometimes doing things without noticing that you are online.

It is quite normal for me, and assuemedly to you, to read mails, check RSS feeds, look for software updates, surfing or consulting search engines, dictionaries and translations.

Everytime you are doing some of those tasks your ISP (internet service provider) is contacted to grab those information.

The windows users draw the shortest straw, because there are thousands of viruses and trojans existing. And with every internet request you are taking a journey into danger. The integrates OS X firewall is a really great protection.

In my humble opinion the most hazardous risk are phishing mails, infected websites and applications calling home.

Objective development has created a great firewall software called Little snitch. It is highly configurable and it really snitches very good.

No application will call anywhere if you do not grant it.

I am using some other apps like Natsu Lion, Adium, Cyberduck who sometimes have instant information I want to keep track of. Let’s say I get a new Mail. Then Growl gives me short bubble showing the content.
