When working on a website, I often use photos or other websites to get harmonic matching colors. Certainly, the color names can be taken, but sometimes it is better to use a RGB color value for more precision. Not every time I have a graphics program open, but I quickly want to pick the color code.

With OS X comes a handy tiny helper called DigitalColor Meter. You will find that in /Applications/Utilities/. You simply can set the wanted text output format and use Command+Shift+C to get the value into the Clipboard. The settings are autosaved, so on the next start you can continue as you are used to.
