I am using the English language very much, although my native Language is German. It is the best way to communicate to people all over the world and of course absolutely mandatory in combination with learning, sciene, technology, computers, and so on.

To learn and improve my English, I need to look quite often into a dictionary. There are many free dictionaries available on the web like Leo or Dict.cc.

My favorite is Dict.cc, because it is a very slim page. The results come as speedy as gunshot and look like I expect them. There are a lot of other word suggestions and common phrases which totally differ from language to language.

For using Twitter, or when on the road, sometimes I just need to find the right word. And of course, “there is a app for it”. Get the free German to English and vice versa dict.cc application in the AppStore for the iPhone. It is really well done, with a quick and easy interface. My most liked feature is the live-type-suggestion.

Google Translate

Normally, I do not like translation services, because it is often translated word by word and the sense of content is gone. But sometimes, there is no way out to use them, if you visit a website where you really can not understand anything.

On my recent Article You have the choice I got a comment from Olechka-persik which is completely written in Russian language. I could not understand anything and I decided to ask Google’s translate instead of Yahoo’s Babelfish.

I am absolutely overwhelmed from the results! It was clear and easy understandable.

They seem to analyse now the complete sentences and if you hover over it, you see the original content and can suggest other translations if the terms are not good.

Of course I wanted to check the Yahoo’s Babelfish for a comparison, and I must say that I prefer Google’s translate because it is much more faster and the selection interface is more comfortable.
